process that lead to the definition of an industrially feasible product realisation based on technical requirements, existing means and technological possibilities
Note 1 to entry: Any design element is justified.
Note 2 to entry: The design process is a set of activities (studies, calculations, tests, etc.) carried out in stages: — upstream design consisting in taking into account the need and its environment and then exploring (listing and evaluating) the various solution concepts to reach the choice of the optimal concept; — preliminary design consisting in studying the retained solution to reach an optimal product architecture; — detailed design consisting of developing a detailed definition to enable the manufacture, use and support of the product samples.
